Our Approach

CETAFI aims at building economic and social capacity of women and youth in Uganda for sustainable livelihoods. The organizational goal focuses on creating a mindset shift in communities towards development.

Building Capacity

We build on households’ inherent capacities, to enable resilient well-being. The approach relies on providing customized social-economic solutions to targeted communities.

Microcredit

We support qualifying micro-entrepreneurs with credit for their enterprises through a revolving fund. Our target is to aid business acceleration through short term affordable credit (Minimum 100k – Max 3M) for a period of 12 months.) This service is available to beneficiaries who have demonstrated utmost commitment to the training and successfully completed all the modules on financial literacy, entrepreneurship and mindset change.

The disbursed loans are regularly monitored by our qualified CETAFI staff using the transformational impact assessment tool to determine the total effect/behavior of both the credit and trainings.
Our extension of microcredit to our trainees at the moment depends on availability of loanable funds at organization.

Startup Kits

Uganda was recognized as the most entrepreneurial country in the world by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor in 2015 due to the entrepreneurial attitude of the Ugandan population. This can be partially attributed to the fact that Uganda has the world’s youngest population with 78 percent of the population aged below 25 years. In the same regard, the number of business startups in the country continues to grow by the day.

Funding is an extremely significant aspect in line with meeting the vision of every start-up. At CETAFI, we extend a series of free financial literacy and affordable funding which help in the evolvement of a startup to a full-fledged organization by helping it with calculated funds at crucial steps. We have experimented and realized that many unemployed youth and women need basic capacity building and financing as little as USD 200 each to transform their lives.

Creating Linkages

Our extension of microcredit to our trainees shall only depend on availability of loanable funds at CETAFI. When we have funds for this cause, we disburse concessional loans through Maneni Instant Credit but when the funds are not available, we shall link the clients to like-minded financial institutions for microcredit and savings.

Savings

Our clients are taught to save as a direct implementation of what they have learnt from CETAFI. Saving is done both at home and in the financial institution but the CETAFI’s ultimate goal is to link all our clients to financial institutions to open and run savings accounts.
